บิลเบอร์รี่และบลูเบอร์รี่



บิลเบอร์รี่และบลูเบอร์รี่


บิลเบอร์รี่ เป็นพืชตระกูลเดียวกับ บลูเบอรรี่ คืออยู่ในตระกูล Vaccinium spp. มีชื่อทางวิทยาศาสตร์ว่า Vaccinium myrtillus ซึ่งพบได้มากในยุโรป

สารสำคัญที่อยู่ในบิลเบอร์รี่และบลูเบอร์รี่คือ Anthocyanosides ซึ่งจัดอยู่ในสารประเภท Flavonoids ( อ้างอิงที่ 1, 2 ) มีประโยชน์ในการบำรุงสายตาและบำรุงจอตา มีส่วนช่วยในเรื่องการมองเห็นในที่มืดได้ดีขึ้น ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นผลดีในโรค ตาบอดตอนกลางคืน ( Night blindness ; อ้างอิงที่ 3, 4, 5 )

นอกจากนี้ สารในกลุ่ม Anthocyanosides ยังช่วยป้องกัน retina ถูกทำลายโดยกระบวนการ Oxidation ที่เกิดขึ้นภายในร่างกาย และยังช่วยสร้าง rhodopsin ซึ่งเป็นสารสีที่พบได้ในส่วนนอกของ retinal rod ( อ้างอิงที่ 6 ) จึงอาจจะช่วยลดโอกาสเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดต้อกระจกอีกด้วย ( อ้างอิงที่ 7, 8 )

คุณสมบัติอื่น ๆ ของ Bilberry ที่มีการรายงานจนถึงปัจจุบัน มีดังต่อไปนี้ :-

1. ช่วยเพิ่มความแข็งแรงให้กับหลอดเลือด และลดโอกาสการเกิดสภาวะหลอดเลือดแข็งตัว หรือหลอดเลือดเปราะ ซึ่งเป็นสาเหตุของโรคหลอดเลือดหลายชนิด ( อ้างอิงที่ 9 )
2. ประกอบด้วยสารหลายชนิดที่มีคุณสมบัติเป็นสารต้านการเกิดปฏิกิริยาอ๊อกซิเดชั่น (Antioxidant) จึงลดการเสื่อมของเซลล์ชนิดต่าง ๆ ในร่างกายได้ ( อ้างอิงที่ 9 )
3. อาจจะช่วยลดการเกิดมะเร็งด้วยกลไกของ การเหนี่ยวนำให้เซลมะเร็งตายไป ( Apoptosis ) ( อ้างอิงที่ 10 )

บลูเบอร์รี่ ยังมีสารต้านอนุมูลอิสสระในปริมาณที่สูงมาก และมีงานวิจัยที่ศูนย์รัจเจอร์ที่วิจัยบลูเบอร์รี่ แครนเบอร์รี่ ( Rutgers Blueberry Cranberry Research Center ) ในเมืองแชทเวิทธ์ นิวเจอร์ซี พบว่าบลูเบอร์รี่ช่วยทำให้ระบบของท่อปัสสาวะทำงานได้ดีขึ้น เนื่องจากมีสารประกอบที่ป้องกันเชื้อแบคทีเรียซึ่งเป็นสาเหตุการติดเชื้อในท่อปัสสาวะที่ได้รับมาจากผนังกระเพาะปัสสาวะ ( อ้างอิงที่ 11,12 )
